2026 UPDATEZ

There’s a lot going on around eaarth (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eaarth) — Pakistan, Gaza, Russia, Ukraine, DRC, USA writ large, wherever you might be at this moment (we’ve all got our stuff we’re dealing with so let’s not get too political here) — so what can we even do? dream? not dream (my advice, always)? stay informed? retreat? scream? speak out? violence etcetera (https://christinaschneider.bandcamp.com/…/violence…)

ok, no one asked for my life story, but maybe you can go device-free for 30 minutes and come to a live music show this evening in Woy Woy, New South Wales… 6p to 9:30 for free, dog / kid friendly — three different “ambient/atmospheric” acts — my “Strange Paradise” trio (Toby Hall on drums, Matt Lamb on upright bass, yours on guitar & pedals) plays from 7:30p for about 45 minutes .

we’ll be dusting off some compositions I wrote in 2011 (!) — one of them is about a rad rooftop farm in Brooklyn, NY that I used to live near — a few of them are back up on Bandcamp where they were hidden for about 10 years (https://tomcsatariband.bandcamp.com/album/tom-csatari-band) :

hope to see you there . details below — it’s right across from the train station in Woy Woy so Sydney folks I hope to see you there : )

if you can’t make it, I would suggest listening to the new GUMMYZ trio 30-track EP which will be perormed on Sunday 7 June 2026 at Goons Brewing in Tumbi Umbi (https://www.goonsbrewing.com/):

“Many of these short-form pieces feel like stolen glances. The listener gets just enough to be intrigued. What else came before or after? It’s up to you to imagine.” — Adam Levy [Norah Jones etc.: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Levy_(musician)]

last but not least, the Guitar Uncivilized (www.guitaruncivilized.com) project has continued to expand, and the print-only zine-version of “365 Volume 1: The Freak-Jazz Campfire Chordbook” is now available for purchase, shipping worldwide:
Written by Tom Csatari (https://instagram.com/guitaruncivilized/), designed by Olivia de Salve (https://instagram.com/oliviadesalve/), and edited by Quentin Moore (https://bigfrench.bandcamp.com).

This limited run, print-only edition features chord diagrams, jokes, anti-jokes, anecdotes, methods and in-the-field quotes from Brad Shepik, Liberty Ellman, James Blood Ulmer, Craig Weinrib, Mick Goodrick, Jakob Bro, Darcy James Argue, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, and John Scofield.

alright, that’s enough for now. the music industry is pretty brutal, so please take these with a grain of salty salt.
xoxo Tom J. Csatari aka Uncivilized

PS : rest in power Sonny Rollins (Ignore Heroes), so hard to pick one but, the entire *THE BRIDGE* album notwithstanding , “Reflections” (1957 – https://youtu.be/ohEV_GHMcBg?si=UgN7tMyDHsdtMNEI) might be “the Saxophone Collossus’ ” best: he knew how to pick good tunes, write them, and explode them with swerving, notty, driving melodies all up and down on the horn — looking back with a chuckle. (My guitar mentor Peter Bernstein played in his band for a few years and taught me one of Sonny’s original calypso tunes by ear in a lesson — an oral history passed down in flesh and blood…)
